I made a mistake while trying to remove McAfee from my computer. Instead of uninstalling it properly, I moved it to the recycle bin and then emptied the bin, thinking that would do the trick. My Windows 11 computer is still running fine, but I'm worried about the consequences. I didn't really use McAfee much, so I'm not sure what version it was or if it was a free trial. I've noticed it's still listed in my installed apps, but when I try to uninstall it, I get a message that the file can't be found. Can anyone tell me how serious this is and what steps I should take next?

If you just deleted the shortcut from your desktop or start menu, that wouldn't remove the actual program. But if you moved files from the Program Files folder, then it’s a different story and might require a proper cleanup to avoid issues later.
You might want to check "Add or Remove Programs" in your control panel. Sometimes, just deleting the icon doesn’t fully uninstall the software. If you see McAfee still listed there, try to uninstall it from that menu instead.
I did check, but it says the file can't be found now.
Consider using McAfee's official removal tool. It’s designed specifically to clean up after their software, and it should help you get rid of any leftover files or settings that might be causing issues.
Just be cautious about downloading more McAfee software if you're trying to remove it!
Yeah, I think I might have deleted the program files directly. I'm a bit worried it was a scam version.
