Accidentally Sent My Apple Watch for Recycling—Can I Get It Back?

Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of a mess and hoping someone can offer some advice. I was trying to trade in my Apple Watch on Apple.com. After I applied, I received an email from ERI, which I thought was part of the trade-in process, containing a recycling shipping label. I didn't receive a trade-in confirmation from Apple, so I assumed everything was good to go. I dropped off the package, thinking I was sending my watch in for trade-in. However, I later realized that I had sent my personal Apple Watch Series 8 to be recycled instead. I've already contacted both ERI and Apple, but they refused to help me retrieve my watch. Is there any way to recover it before it gets processed? Has anyone else faced this issue? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You might want to visit an Apple Store directly and talk to someone in person. Sometimes having a face-to-face conversation can help clear up misunderstandings and get better assistance than on the phone.

If you are sure you went through the whole trade-in process, it sounds like there might have been a mistake on Apple’s part. They shouldn’t let you send a device in for recycling if you’re trying to trade it in. They could be ethically responsible for making this right since it seems like you didn’t intend for it to go to recycling. It’s worth pushing them on this!

Unfortunately, it sounds like a tough situation. Apple is pretty strict about their recycling policies, and once a device is sent for recycling, they typically don’t let you backtrack. It's an expensive mistake, for sure. Sorry to hear you're dealing with this!

That’s really odd you got a recycling box instead of just a trade-in label. Maybe there was a mix-up on Apple’s end? If you went through the trade-in process, it seems like Apple should have explained the recycling step better. Did you get that label completely by accident?

Yeah, it’s strange they would send out a recycling box without it being requested. Maybe a miscommunication happened when they processed your trade-in.

Definitely a glitch in the system—getting a recycle label when you expected a trade-in one is confusing!

I hate to say it, but there’s probably not much that can be done now. Their policies are strict regarding recycling, and it’s frustrating when you realize it was a mistake. It can be painful, but sometimes, these mishaps happen, unfortunately.
