Advice for Beginners Learning AWS

I'm new to the tech world and eager to learn AWS. I've purchased an annual subscription to the AWS Skill Builder program and was advised to follow the Solutions Architect Associate path. However, I read that I should have a solid AWS foundation before diving into that. If anyone here has experience with AWS Skill Builder and started out in tech like I am, I would really appreciate your recommendations or tips! Thanks!

It's definitely wise to approach your learning step-by-step. Getting certifications can be helpful, but entry-level positions are really competitive right now. It might be tough even with certifications. Focus on building actual projects and gaining practical experience—it'll make you more attractive to employers in the long run. You might want to check out community resources for additional support too!

Good to know! I'll look into community resources for some hands-on experience.

It's great that you're diving into AWS! Before jumping into the Solutions Architect Associate material, I recommend starting with the Cloud Practitioner certification. The Skill Builder has some solid coursework designed to help you grasp the basics of AWS. Understanding terms and concepts from the Cloud Practitioner will make the Solutions Architect material much easier to digest. Also, hands-on experience is key; try to practice a bit in the AWS console after every lesson to solidify your understanding.

I totally agree! Doing hands-on labs really helped me too. It's all about small steps and building your confidence.

Thanks for the advice! I’ll definitely check out the Cloud Practitioner path first.

Before you dive deep into AWS, it's super helpful to have a basic understanding of IT concepts. Networking fundamentals and basic Linux skills will be beneficial. If you're unfamiliar with these basics, consider spending some time on those before jumping straight into AWS. It could save you some headaches later on!

That makes sense! I need to brush up on my networking skills, thanks for the reminder.

I suggest really getting comfortable with the core AWS services like EC2, S3, IAM, and VPC. Start with the foundational courses in Skill Builder. Once those concepts feel familiar, you'll find tackling the Solutions Architect material a lot less overwhelming. And remember, it’s all about paced learning—take your time to practice and repeat concepts as you go to help them stick!

I appreciate that tip! I’ve been trying to learn everything at once, but I'll slow down.
