Hey everyone! I built my first PC back in 2016, and I think it's time for an upgrade. I'm looking for advice on which parts I can upgrade with the following specs:
- **Motherboard**: ASUS z170 Pro Gaming
- **Hard Drive**: Seagate BarraCuda 3TB 7200 RPM
- **Processor**: Intel Core i5-6600 Quad-Core 3.3 GHz
- **RAM**: G.SKILL TridentZ 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4 3000
- **Graphics Card**: AMD Radeon R9 390
- **Wireless Adapter**: Linksys AE3000-NP
- **Power Supply**: Seasonic SSR-1000PD
- **Case**: Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced
- **OS**: Windows 10 (I'll upgrade to 11 later)
I'm not too savvy with tech terms, so please bear with me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Hoping to avoid having to build a completely new setup.

I wouldn’t go for any upgrades. Your CPU and GPU are quite old, and changing the CPU would require a new motherboard, RAM, and cooler too. Just keep in mind that you might only be able to reuse the case and power supply. What’s your location and budget?
What are your goals with the upgrade? You’d get way better performance from a modern i3 than your current CPU. It’s probably time for a new build overall.
Honestly, your system is pretty outdated. It might be better to save up for a complete rebuild rather than trying to squeeze upgrades out of this one.
You could upgrade to a 7700K processor and get a 32GB RAM kit, but you won’t be able to run Windows 11 since support starts at 8th gen. Also, it’s essential to update your BIOS beforehand. For gaming, your GPU needs a replacement, and really, consider an SSD if you don’t have one yet. Your power supply is still good, so you can reuse that.
