Advice Needed: Should I Choose a 5070 Ti or a 5080 for Gaming at 1440p?

I'm building a new PC and need some advice on which GPU to choose. My goal is to achieve a stable 144 fps at 1440p in most games, without using ray tracing or max settings, and preferably without frame generation. I'm not looking to upgrade again until the 60 series comes out.

I'm considering pairing the GPU with a 9800x3D processor. While I really like the 5080, it's almost CA$500 more than the 5070 Ti. I can afford the 5080, but I'm wondering if it's worth the extra cost for a 10-15% performance boost, or if I should stick with the 5070 Ti and save some cash for the upcoming series.

If ray tracing doesn't matter to you, have you considered an AMD card? The 9070 XT or even a used 7900 XTX might give you better performance for your money without the added expense of the Nvidia options. With your focus on frame rates, they could be a great fit!

In my opinion, the 5080 isn’t really much more future-proof than the 5070 Ti since they both have the same VRAM. You might hit the same performance wall with either card eventually.

For native gaming at 1440p, the RX 9070 XT with 16GB should serve you well!

If you're not keen on upscaling or ray tracing, I really think the 9070 XT is your best bet. Even if you want to use upscaling options, it still holds up nicely.

Honestly, if you don’t need CUDA for anything, the 9070 XT is a solid choice. If you do need CUDA, then go for the 5070 Ti.
