I'm seeking some guidance as I plan to shift my career from Desktop Support, where I've spent about 15 years, to System Administration. I've accumulated various certifications including A+, Network+, CCNA, and MCTS from vocational school. Recently, I've also earned my AZ-900 certification and feel like I'm halfway through my Azure training in preparation for the AZ-104. I'm curious if these certifications will be sufficient for landing a System Admin job, or if I should be considering other certifications or areas to focus on. Any advice on my career path would be greatly appreciated!

I get it, jumping into sysadmin can feel daunting without direct experience. But remember, certifications aren't the only way in. Building a portfolio with projects or hands-on labs can also help demonstrate your skills to potential employers. Just keep learning and applying!
I'd suggest looking into AZ-800 and AZ-801 as well. They could really boost your profile. Also, consider working on some projects to showcase your skills. Pluralsight has great courses on those topics if you're looking for structured learning!
Don't stress too much about the transition. You've got a solid foundation with your desktop support experience and the certs. Just make sure you highlight that experience when you apply! If your current company isn't supportive, it might be time to look elsewhere. Just keep pushing forward!
Honestly, with your background and the certifications you have, you're definitely qualified to apply for sysadmin roles. The Azure certs will just add to your skill set. Just get out there and start applying!
Thank you for the encouragement! I’ll definitely consider starting some hands-on projects to build my experience.
