I'm in the process of building a new gaming PC and I'm torn between using an air cooler or a 360mm AIO cooler for my Ryzen 7 7800X3D. My system will mostly be for gaming and some video editing at 1440p. Here's the setup I'm looking at: Ryzen 7 7800X3D, RX 9070 Sapphire Pure, ASUS TUF B650-E WiFi, and Corsair RM850e. I'm considering the Thermalright Peerless Assassin SE 120 and the Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360. My main priorities are noise levels, reliability, and temperature management. Which cooler would you recommend based on this info and why?

In my experience, an air cooler is more than enough for the 7800X3D. The Peerless Assassin cools really well and you avoid potential issues that come with AIOs like pump failures. If you're just gaming and doing occasional video work, I’d definitely stick with air cooling for simplicity and less risk.
I've had both types and I prefer air coolers for reliability, especially for a CPU that doesn't draw excessive power.
Both the air cooler and the AIO will keep your CPU cool enough for gaming performance. However, if you're concerned about noise, the air cooler might be the way to go since AIOs can have noticeable pump noise at idle. Air coolers are generally more reliable over the long term, while AIOs can last around 5 years if they’re of good quality. In the end, it may come down to what you prefer in terms of looks and price.
Exactly, with an air cooler, you just have to worry about the fan, and that's easy to replace if needed.
True! Plus, with the Peerless Assassin, you should get great performance without the extra complications of water cooling.
I’ve had my NH-D15 running with the 7800X3D, and it's incredibly quiet even under load. Plus, I just have to keep an eye on the fan, not worry about any water or pumps. If you want something reliable for years, I’d say go for the air cooler.
That’s a solid choice! The NH-D15 is legendary for a reason.

Exactly! Air coolers have fewer points of failure, and the maintenance is super simple.
