I've noticed that every 4 to 5 seconds, my Ethernet shows a network activity of 8 to 64 KBPS. The only application I have running in the background is Discord, and I'm not using any other software. Is this kind of network activity normal, or is my paranoia getting the best of me?

That sounds pretty normal! There are a lot of background processes that might be running and using some data, like Windows updates or error reporting, and even Discord checking for new messages can contribute to that.
What made you think it might be a virus? It's likely just some background services running. Discord checks for messages in the background, and a few other services could be causing this traffic too.
I've just been seeing some spikes in data usage that look odd, especially when nothing else is running.
I've been in a similar situation where I was convinced I had malware, but turns out it was just some harmless background activity. If you haven't downloaded anything suspicious, you might be fine!
That's good to hear! I mostly stick to safe sites, but I still worry about sudden changes.

But what about these spikes I see sometimes? Even when Discord isn’t actively open, I can see weird activity.
