However, ever since I entered the tech world, I've wanted to work on high-demand consumer products, tackling complex software issues. The truth is, my current role is the opposite of that, and it stresses me out. I'm part of an R&D team where we never really push anything to production; it's all about continuous development and testing. My role is centered around DevOps and SRE, but there's no challenge since there's nothing in production.
I'm open to taking a 30-50% pay cut to join a smaller company and gain that 'real' software engineering experience, but with a mortgage, kids, and a wife, I can't afford that leap.
