Any Tips for Using a Dremel Inside a PC Case?

Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of a bind. I've got a stripped screw that's keeping a failing hard drive in place, and I've tried everything else to get it out. So, I decided to buy a dremel to cut a new slot in the screw and hopefully remove it. I'm still pretty new to computer repairs and I've been reading up on avoiding damage to the motherboard due to metal shavings. Does anyone have specific tips for minimizing that risk while I work on this? I've found a lot of generic advice, but I'm hoping to hear from someone who's dealt with a similar situation.

If you can unplug all the components and move them out of the way, that could help a lot! Just be cautious about other screws; you might want to see if they're stuck before trying, though. Good luck!

That’s a good point! I’ll check the other screws before I do anything. Thanks for the heads up!

Before you start, I'd recommend practicing on some scrap material first. Dremeling can be tricky, even for experienced users, so getting used to the tool can help prevent mistakes. Also, try to remove as much hardware from the case as you can to avoid damaging other components. If you can't remove certain parts, using aluminum foil or something similar can help shield them from debris.
