Anyone Else Getting Random MFA Requests Lately?

I've been hearing a lot of reports about unexpected multi-factor authentication (MFA) requests over the past day, affecting even senior admins. The sign-in logs don't show any sign-in failures, but I've noticed these requests in the BehaviorAnalytics table with a bit of delay. Given the number of reports and the variety of users experiencing this, I'm starting to think it might be an issue on Microsoft's end. I've opened a support ticket with them, but I wanted to see if anyone else in the community has been experiencing similar issues.

Receiving MFA requests usually indicates that someone might have compromised passwords. I'd recommend changing the passwords of affected accounts first, then figuring out how they leaked.

Just today, I got two unexpected text messages for Microsoft authentication. Definitely concerning!

Yes, I can confirm there’s a known issue this week regarding these MFA prompts. You're not alone!

I haven't had that problem, but you might want to start changing your passwords. Sounds like someone could be probing your accounts.

I've seen a bunch of similar reports all around, so it’s not just you dealing with this!

When I start getting strange MFA prompts, I immediately think someone might be trying to hack in. Make sure your conditional access settings are tight and your password policies are strong!

If you can, try switching to FIDO2 or passkey authentication. It's way safer than using prompts or SMS for MFA.

Totally agree! It's scary how many people are still relying on SMS or prompts for security.
