Are 8 VRMs Enough for a 9800X3D?

I found a great bundle deal that pairs the 9800X3D with the ASUS B650E-E TUF Gaming WiFi motherboard, but I noticed this board has only 8(80A)+2(80A)+1(80A) VRMs. I'm curious about the VRM requirements for the 9800X3D. Will these VRMs be sufficient for stable performance, especially under load?

I was actually in a similar position, thinking about different motherboards. It's important to note that some boards, like the MSI, have connectivity issues that kept me from choosing them. I opted for the base Asus board to save some money for other upgrades instead.

If you're looking at the 9800X3D, it might be worth considering the cheapest 7800X3D bundle instead. It can save you some cash, and unless you're gaming at high competitive levels, the difference won't be too noticeable. But if you decide to stick with the 9800X3D, don't hesitate to get a slightly upgraded motherboard for better ports and future-proofing.

The 9800X3D is pretty efficient, and it can run well on most motherboards. The one you're considering is perfectly compatible and should handle the power needs without a hitch.

Unless you're planning to do some serious overclocking, that board should handle the 9800X3D just fine, even with Precision Boost Overdrive enabled.

With 8 x 80A phases, you should be all set for the 9800X3D. That setup is adequate for typical gaming and tasks.
