I built my first PC about a year ago with a Ryzen 7 5800X and an RTX 5060 Ti 8GB. I'm considering upgrading the processor to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D and replacing the graphics card with an RTX 5070. Are these worthwhile upgrades, or would my money be better spent on different components? My budget, monitor resolution, and the games I play may affect the recommendation, so I'm looking for general upgrade advice.

Moving from a 5060 Ti to a 5070 is definitely faster, but it’s only one tier higher, so the value depends on the price difference. If you can find a higher-tier card such as a 9070 XT for similar money, it may offer considerably more performance and a better long-term upgrade.
For 1440p gaming, a Ryzen 7 5800X3D paired with an RTX 5070 would be a strong combination. The 5070’s 12GB of VRAM is generally fine for current games, especially if you’re comfortable using DLSS, but a 16GB card would be safer for 4K, heavy texture mods, or keeping the system for many years.
The best choice depends heavily on your budget and whether you play at 1080p, 1440p, or 4K. Also consider the games you play and your target frame rate before upgrading. The 5800X3D can be a good drop-in upgrade for gaming on the AM4 platform, but it may not be necessary if your current CPU is already keeping up.
I’d be more cautious with 12GB if you plan to use lots of texture mods or move to 4K later. A 16GB option such as a 9070 XT or 5070 Ti could provide more breathing room, provided the price fits your budget.
