Are AMD GPU drivers reliable now, or should I switch to Nvidia?

I'm building a budget PC for my cousin, aiming to keep it under €800. It will mainly be used for light gaming like Valorant and Dota at 1080p 120hz/144hz. I'm considering an AMD 9060XT 8GB, but I've had bad experiences with AMD GPU drivers in the past, causing crashes and restarts. I'm wondering if the current state of AMD drivers is stable enough now, or if I should opt for Nvidia GPUs like the 5060 or 5060ti 8GB instead.

I’ve heard that Nvidia had their share of driver issues recently, but AMD seems to be doing pretty well overall.

That's true, Nvidia did fix those issues fast. Meanwhile, my 7800XT has been giving me grief for two years straight.

No driver problems with my 9070XT or 7900XTX at all. I think it depends on what games you play.

I’m really anxious about potential driver problems. If it were just me, I wouldn’t mind troubleshooting, but I want it to be hassle-free for my cousin. The specs of the 9060XT look great, but I’m hesitant after past frustrations.

I’ve had 0 issues with my 6900XT and 9070XT. Sounds like most complaints are from competitive gamers.

Only issue I’ve faced is needing to re-apply my undervolt after a reboot due to a driver error. Other than that, it’s been smooth sailing for the most part.

I’m using a 9060XT (16GB version) and so far, no issues at all. But I mostly play single-player games, which might be why I haven't experienced driver troubles like some others have.
