Hey everyone, I have a bit of a serious question that's been bothering me. I regularly use ChatGPT with my Google account, and the other day I asked it about getting better at a specific skill. Out of nowhere, just a day later, I'm flooded with Facebook ads focused on that exact skill. I never searched for anything like it before. Is this a common issue now? Are my conversations with ChatGPT influencing the ads I see across different platforms?

Facebook's ads are getting super annoying! Just the other day my mom logged into her account on my computer, and now I’m seeing ads tailored to her. It's ridiculous!
If you're on mobile, what keyboard are you using? Some can be more invasive than others when it comes to data.
Honestly, every device keeps track of so much data! Your keyboard, your browser, and even some apps collect your keystrokes for analysis. It can feel like privacy is a thing of the past with how invasive it all is.
But I doubt the OS is collecting data like you say. That would cause massive legal issues. DNS isn't even hardware, it's more complicated than that.
You can manage your data in your browser settings. Check the icon for your account, and you should be able to disable data collection. Just remember, any tabs you have open can still see your keystrokes!
Don't sweat it! ChatGPT doesn't share your data like that. What you're probably experiencing is the Baader-Meinhoff phenomenon, where you start seeing things more often after you've noticed them. Or maybe you've clicked on something else related without realizing it.
That makes sense! It is weird though how it all happened so quickly right after my ChatGPT chat. I didn’t even click on anything related.
True, but it's also possible Facebook has some pretty invasive trackers in place. You’d be surprised at how much data they collect.
You might want to check if there are apps on your phone that record metadata from audio. Some people think Facebook does this on their main apps, and even TikTok might be doing it too.
I've been in the ad space and this data collection is definitely concerning. What they capture nowadays is pretty mind-boggling.
