Are Others Struggling with Microsoft’s New Signed RDP File Requirement from April Updates?

I've been noticing some changes after Microsoft's April patches, particularly regarding RDP files. I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing issues with the new warning boxes that popped up. I know we can sign the files, but I'm not thrilled about the hassle it brings. How are you all planning to handle this?

I'm planning to roll out the reg key to my team on Monday. But like many said, this isn’t a long-term solution. It's becoming a hassle to manually sign RDP files, and even then, we still get warning messages.

Exactly! We need something more sustainable. Signing isn’t really fixing the root of the issue, just masking it.

Why didn’t we get any heads up about this? I feel like they used to notify us about changes beforehand, but not this time. Just seems like a typical Microsoft move to drop these changes without warning.

There's that old saying, right? "Move fast and break things..." Seems to be their motto lately.

Yeah, they had a message center announcement, but it dropped on the same day as the patch. A bit behind the curve if you ask me.

If you have shortcuts calling `mstsc`, they can bypass some of these issues. But from what I can tell, there are limitations on setting all the options you might need.

True, I found that `mstsc` doesn’t allow as many settings as RDP files, which is a bummer if you need those features.

For those facing disruptions, there's a registry tweak that can help. Here’s how: Open Registry Editor and navigate to `HKLMSoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftWindows NTTerminal ServicesClient`. Modify the `RedirectionWarningDialogVersion` to 1. This can temporarily revert the behavior. Just keep in mind that Microsoft hints this fix might not last after future updates.

That registry change worked for us! But yeah, they mention it might not be a permanent fix. Kind of a shaky support plan.

This registry fix really made a difference for us! It lowered the call volume from users since they didn’t face as many issues with the pop-ups.
