Are SeaSonic Power Supplies Worth the Investment?

I'm dealing with some annoying random reboots on my Windows 11 desktop, and one of the potential culprits might be my PSU. Right now, I'm using a Corsair CSM650, which has been operational for nine months in my current setup, plus it served nine years in a previous build. My rig has a power draw of about 341 watts, so I don't need a super powerful PSU, but I'm considering future-proofing. I'm eyeing the SeaSonic FOCUS GX 750 W ATX3.1 80 PLUS GOLD, which costs $139 and has an A- rating on the PSU Tier List with a ten-year warranty. Does anyone have experience with this model or other recent SeaSonic PSUs? I'd really appreciate your thoughts on their reliability!

Seasonic is widely regarded as one of the most trusted brands in the PSU market. They not only make their own units but also produce for other well-known brands. You can’t go wrong with them!

Seasonic offers one of the longest warranties around, which is great for peace of mind. But I had a Focus SGX-650 where the fan started whining after just two years. They replaced it quickly, but make sure you're okay with paying a premium for that peace of mind.

I've used a SeaSonic PSU for my last build and loved it! They are incredibly reliable and come with excellent warranty support. I'm definitely planning to use one for my next setup.

I had a SeaSonic PSU that didn't last—fried my hard drive before it died. It might just have been a freak accident, but I'm a bit hesitant to buy another one after that.

That’s unfortunate! Just to clarify, did you reach out to their customer service? They tend to be pretty responsive and might help with such issues.

Seasonic is one of the top PSU manufacturers out there. While every brand can have their lemons, the FOCUS GX 750 W model looks solid. Just a bit pricey, so if you're on a budget, consider alternatives like the Montech Century II.
