Hey everyone! I'm on the hunt for a Thunderbolt to FireWire adapter and I have to say, the prices I've found are really surprising. Most of them are going for over £100 for just a tiny 10cm cable. I've never looked into Thunderbolt stuff before, so I'm wondering if these prices are standard for this kind of cable. Is this normal? I'd appreciate some yes or no answers from those of you who know about this. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, those prices are pretty legit. The thing is, they're not just regular cables; they use a bridge chip because Thunderbolt and FireWire operate on different protocols. That's why they're so pricey!
Also, you should check what version of macOS you're using. Some recent versions have dropped FireWire support altogether, which could complicate things with adapters.
I’m on Ventura, so I guess that makes sense for the FireWire issue.

Thanks for explaining! I didn't realize they had those bridge chips in them.
