Five years ago, I built my PC and was advised to use two hard drives: one for the operating system and another for storage. I'm wondering if that's still the best approach today. My setup includes an M.2 drive and an HDD. What do you suggest I do? Thanks!

Definitely, you should opt for an SSD as your primary drive for Windows and any applications or games you use regularly. HDDs are mostly good for just storing media files these days.
Not really, considering how advanced SSDs have become. HDDs are mainly useful for extremely large capacities, like around 20TB. I managed to get a 28TB drive for just $250. If you need less, SSDs are affordable and often more practical.
Usually, yes! A high-quality NVMe SSD is a great choice for booting up and running demanding applications while an HDD can handle mass storage.
A few years back, getting a larger capacity NVMe SSD was quite pricey, so smaller SSDs for the OS and large HDDs for storage were common. Nowadays, if you need 4TB or less, it's better to go with all NVMe SSDs. For heavy media storage, high-capacity HDDs still make sense.
It really depends on your storage needs. I have my OS and apps on a 2TB SSD and use a 16TB HDD for downloading movies and shows. Your setup should reflect how much data you typically handle.
