Back to Linux: Can I Get My HP Reverb G2 Working for VR?

I've recently switched back to Linux, currently using Kubuntu, after years of exclusively using Windows. I'm really enjoying Linux so far, especially since many of my games are running smoothly. However, I'm facing issues with my HP Reverb G2 VR headset and my Nvidia 2080 Ti. I'm stuck dual-booting for now, and I have a few questions: a) Is it worth the effort to try to get VR working on Kubuntu? b) Is there a better Linux distribution for VR compatibility? c) Should I just wait for better VR support before I try again and keep dual-booting in the meantime?

Honestly, just focus on what makes you happy. If gaming is your way to unwind, why let anyone else's opinion bother you? Just enjoy your games!

Exactly! Everyone has different ways to relax, and if gaming works for you, that’s all that matters.

Check out Monado; it might help you connect your headset on Linux, according to the Linux VR Adventures Wiki. It’s always good to look for current tools that can help with VR compatibility!

Just hang in there! With advancements like the Steam Frame, compatibility for VR on Linux is expected to improve significantly, possibly making it as easy as gaming normally is now. So maybe it’s best to wait a little if you're not in a rush!

I just tested one of the VR setups using Wivrn to play Half-Life: Alyx on a different headset, and it worked pretty well! The HP Reverb isn't officially listed, but it’s worth a shot. It wasn't too hard to set up, so you might enjoy experimenting.
