Hey everyone! I'm in need of some advice regarding hard drives. Currently, my rig has four different types of hard drives, but I'm facing issues with my 2TB WD Black drive, which has been mostly used for less-demanding Steam games—it's starting to fail. Additionally, I want to replace an old 2TB Seagate Barracuda that holds my documents, videos, and such since both drives are over a decade old. My plan is to get a single 6TB or 8TB drive to consolidate everything. Just to clarify, my OS is on an SSD, and I keep my active games on a separate SSD as well. I've heard mixed reviews about WD's current quality and that Seagate isn't performing well for some applications. Can anyone recommend a reliable 3.5" HDD with 6-8TB capacity that's suitable for home storage and less-demanding gaming that won't break the bank?

I’ve been hearing a lot about Western Digital's decline in quality lately, but don't let that discourage you completely. There are still solid options out there, just double-check the latest reviews for 6-8TB drives to avoid any bad batches.
Maybe consider checking out drives that are reasonably priced on Amazon or similar sites. Just be mindful of the pricing differences in your country, as some models can be super pricey!
I’ve got a bunch of refurb HGST drives (12TB each) in my server, and they've been performing well. If you're in the US, sites like serverpartdeals have good options. Not sure how easy it is to find them near you, but it’s an option!
You might want to check out the Toshiba MG enterprise drives. They have capacities going up to 20TB+ and they work great for data storage. I'm using them in my NAS and they’ve been pretty solid. Might be worth looking into!
That's helpful! Are they noisy or do they run pretty quietly?
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll definitely look into HGST drives.
