I'm currently using a 5800X paired with an ROG B550-E motherboard, but I'm looking to upgrade to an AM5 setup for better gaming and productivity. I've run into some issues with my current board—particularly with the USB controller shutting down ports, and I want to make sure I won't face the same problems with my next motherboard. I have some specific concerns:
1. What AM5 motherboard do you recommend?
2. Will I encounter RAM compatibility issues as I have with my current Hynix dies?
3. I've heard about the 9800X3D burning on certain boards (X870 and B850), is that still a concern?
4. I plan to run 64GB of DDR5 at 6800MT with my 7900 XTX and my budget for a good motherboard is around 300€.

Check out this Google Sheet on AM5 motherboards! It lists various boards and their features. You need to consider how many USB ports, M.2 slots, and whether you need USB 4. For me, I’m considering either the B850 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI or the MSI PRO B850-P WIFI. Avoiding ASRock and Gigabyte due to past experiences. The B850 TOMAHAWK has better features overall but costs a bit more than the MSI.
Watch out for Gigabyte boards! Some of them have issues with PBO being locked. I regret picking a Gigabyte motherboard since I have not been satisfied with their features. Stick to brands that offer better support.
I'd steer clear of Asrock motherboards since many users report CPU damage with them. Most decent boards that meet your connectivity needs should work well, and the B850 chipset seems to be a solid choice for your setup. Just a heads-up, the sweet spot for DDR5 is around 6000 CL30, not necessarily 6800, for performance.
