Hey everyone! I'm in the exciting process of building my first computer and I've got a few components lined up, including an RTX 5070. I've done a ton of research trying to find the right CPU, but I want to make sure I don't overspend on a top-tier model if my GPU isn't going to fully utilize it. I've also got DDR5 RAM and I'm planning to get an AM5-compatible motherboard. What CPU would you recommend for a good balance without going overboard? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your help!

If you’re primarily focused on gaming, the Ryzen 5 9600X is an excellent choice. It’s really cost-effective and performs well for 4K gaming, although keep in mind that the RTX 5070 might not always hit those high frame rates. Pair it with an MSI B850 gaming motherboard for compatibility and reliable performance. For RAM, going with Corsair Vengeance, even if it's a bit pricier, will serve you well with 2x32 DDR5 at 6000Hz—totally worth the extra cash!
It really depends on what you plan to do with your PC. Are you gaming most of the time, or will it also be for work or production? Knowing this can help narrow it down. Also, what’s your budget? It'd help to have a specific amount to work with to recommend the best options.
You’ve got some good options! The Ryzen 7600 and 9600 (including their X variants) are solid choices. If you want even more power, consider the Ryzen 7700 or 9700. More cores are always beneficial if you plan to do more than just gaming!
Mostly gaming on company time, so hoping to keep it budget-friendly while still getting great performance!
