Best CPU for a 5080 GPU?

I'm planning to get an AMD CPU to pair with my new 5080 GPU. My main usage will be gaming, especially with CPU-heavy titles like Star Citizen, MSFS, and Elden Ring. I also do some work on MATLAB and Simulink, so performance in productivity tasks is essential too. While I want something powerful, I'd like to keep costs reasonable. If the 7800X3D meets my needs and the 9800X3D is just a minor upgrade, I'd prefer to stick with the 7800. I'm open to any suggestions, thanks!

Think about where you can invest that extra cash from CPU costs. If the 9800X3D is $100 pricier than the 7800X3D, could you use that money for an upgrade elsewhere in your build?

If you're using MSFS, definitely keep in mind that the performance difference is noticeable between the 7800X3D and 9800X3D—like going from 70 fps to 80 fps in some scenarios!

If you're all about gaming and want to save some cash, the 7800X3D is a solid choice, only slightly slower than the 9800X3D. Besides, they’re the top contenders for your 5080.

If you're thinking Ryzen, go for the 9800X3D. If you’re leaning towards Intel, check out the 14700K or 14900K. Just a heads up, though; I’ve had a rough time with the 14th gen Intel chips, so maybe stick with an earlier generation if you consider Intel.

Yeah, I've also heard horror stories about 14th gen CPUs. If you must go Intel, maybe look into the 12th gen for better reliability.
