Best CPU Upgrade for My New 9070xt and Ryzen 5 3600?

Hey everyone! I just picked up a 9070xt, but I'm realizing my Ryzen 5 3600 isn't cutting it and is causing a bottleneck. I'm currently using DDR4 and want to stick with it since I'm trying to keep costs down and don't want to transition to DDR5. I'm considering getting a 5800x3d, but they seem pretty pricey and mostly available as used. Another option is to switch to Intel and get an i7-14700K, but I feel like that might be overkill. I'm looking for recommendations on a CPU that can keep up with 1440p high/ultra gaming and won't bottleneck my 9070xt, all while being budget-friendly. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Upgrading to a 5800x or 5800xt would definitely give you a noticeable boost. Even a 5600x can enhance your performance without breaking the bank.

That's a solid plan, but good luck finding those! The market's a bit tight right now.

With 1440p gaming, you're likely more GPU bound, so you might not need the highest-end processor. A 5600x is a decent upgrade over the 3600 and should handle your needs well.

I found the 5600x for about $320, but I'm unsure if that's reasonable—will take weeks to arrive too.

The 14700kf and 14600kf are excellent high-end options for DDR4. However, economic factors could make the 5800x3d a tough sell compared to going for newer chipsets like AM5.

Would you really recommend the 14700kf over the 5800x3d? I'm on a b550 board.

Honestly, upgrading from a 3600 to a 5800x3d is a substantial leap! I made a similar upgrade and it's been fantastic. Just keep an eye on where you source it to avoid long waits.

Where did you find a good deal for it? I'm hunting around!

If you're staying with DDR4, options like the 5700x or even 5800x3d are solid picks but definitely look at the 5600 as an entry-level boost without overextending your budget.

Exactly! I've been looking into 5700x as well; seems like a good balance between cost and performance.
