Hey everyone! I'm looking to give my PC a bit of an upgrade without breaking the bank. I've had my setup for over six years, and recently I upgraded to an RTX 4070 Ti Super. However, I feel like my current CPU, the i7 9700K, is holding me back. I'm wondering if there's a CPU that I can get that would actually make a difference and still be compatible with my ASRock Z390 Phantom Gaming SLI/ac motherboard. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, the i7 9700K is about as good as it gets for your motherboard since it supports up to 9th generation CPUs. Upgrading to an i9 9900K won't give you much more performance than what you have. If you're looking to see better performance, you might need to consider a whole new setup with a new CPU, motherboard, and probably RAM too.

So should I focus on upgrading my motherboard first, then look for a new CPU? What do you think is the best route to go?
