I'm looking to upgrade my gaming PC which currently uses a GTX 1660 and a Ryzen 5 2600. The CPU seems to be struggling, especially with maintaining 60 fps in newer games. I want to know if I should stick with AMD and go for something like a Ryzen 5 5600X, or consider switching to an Intel i5. My motherboard is an ASUS B450M, so I'm not sure how that might affect my choices.

Realistically, a Ryzen 5 5600X would be a great upgrade, but you might want to focus on getting a new GPU first since most games lean towards being GPU-bound. In fact, newer titles like Spiderman don't even have support for the GTX 1660 anymore!
You don't really need to switch to Intel. You can upgrade to a Ryzen 5 5600X with just a BIOS update on your current motherboard. After that, consider upgrading your GPU for even better frame rates. Something like a used RTX 3060 could be a good choice!
Thanks a lot!
