Best gaming PC build for my nephew under $800

I'm putting together a gaming PC for my nephew since I'm the tech-savvy one in the family. My brother wants me to help him out, and I'll be visiting soon to assist with the assembly. We're not looking for prebuilt options. I'll be shopping at Microcenter, which is nearby in California since they usually offer great deals, though Newegg and Amazon are close in pricing.

So far, my nephew has selected a Ryzen 5 5500 processor, an Asrock B550M motherboard, and an Asus NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card, along with all the essential components like a case, PSU, and RAM. I'm aiming to future-proof the build with DDR5 RAM. Does anyone have suggestions for a solid build that stays under $800? His primary games will be Roblox, Fortnite, NBA 2K, and others. Thanks in advance for any help!

Just a heads up, the Ryzen 5000 series actually uses DDR4. If you're aiming for future-proofing and you're near Microcenter, check out their R5 7600 motherboard and RAM bundles. You could snag a 16GB DDR5 6000 kit along with a decent motherboard for under $300, which is a pretty good deal!

Thanks for the tip! I saw some bundles earlier, but many were out of stock. I found one: the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X with an ASUS B650E Max Gaming WiFi motherboard and G.Skill 16GB DDR5 6000 RAM for $269. Looks like a solid choice and it's in stock!

That sounds like a great plan! That bundle should give him a nice performance boost for those games.
