Best GPS for Car That Displays All Street Names?

I'm on the lookout for a specific type of GPS device for my mom. She's looking for a unit with a screen size between 7" and 9" that displays all the street names while she's driving. She doesn't need navigation since she uses her phone for that, but she misses having a big screen that shows every street around her to help her learn her way around the new neighborhood. I tried using CarPlay, but all the apps like Apple Maps and Google Maps hide many street names when you're driving. Do you know of any GPS devices that can show all street names around her? Thanks!

You might also want to consider using a tablet with the OSMAND app. It allows for detailed maps and is highly customizable, although it can be a bit tricky to use at times. Set it to the right zoom level, and it could fit your mom's needs.

Just a heads-up, most devices will reduce street label visibility based on zoom level and road density to keep things clear. I'd still recommend giving the Garmin a shot. You might even score one second-hand at a thrift store! Just check for models that come with lifetime updates.

Check out the Garmin DriveSmart GPS units! They can show street names, but remember, how well they display depends on the zoom level. They have various models, including 6, 7, and 8-inch screens. I've got an older 6-inch model, and it works great. I also suggest getting a dash mount from ProClipUSA if you want something sturdy!

Have you tried adjusting the zoom level on Apple Maps when using CarPlay? Zooming in can reveal more street names. You can tap on the screen and hit the ‘+’ button to find a sweet spot between seeing all street names and getting a good view of the neighborhood. Just a thought!

I get that, but the constant adjustments aren’t ideal. She just wants to jump in and drive without worrying about fiddling with settings.
