I'm building a new PC this Christmas and have decided on the Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor. My main goal is to run simulations for quantum mechanics, but I also want to ensure it's good for gaming, particularly at 1440p with high refresh rates. Right now, I'm using a 4060 Ti from my old setup. I'm not too worried about GPU bottlenecks since the graphics card is mainly for gaming. What would be the best GPU to pair with this setup?

You really should leverage your GPU for computations, especially if you're doing physics work. Get the best NVIDIA card you can, starting with a 5070 Ti at minimum.

Benchmark-wise, you can't go wrong with the 5080 or 5090, especially if you're not limited by budget. You'll see significant returns on performance.

If you want to stick to a budget, the RX 9070 XT is a fantastic option. But if your budget allows, stretch for the RTX 5080 or even the 5090 for top-notch performance.

For a solid gaming experience at 1440p, consider the RX 9070 XT. It's a great choice for performance, and if you're looking for ARGB options, the higher-end models like Powercolor or XFX are excellent.

If you're into physics, I recommend going for an RTX 5090. It’s fantastic for CUDA programming and will handle your deep learning tasks easily.
