Best GPU Upgrade for an Older Intel CPU

Hey folks! I'm considering upgrading my graphics card and I've found three options available at the same price: the Intel Arc B580, Nvidia RTX 5050, and AMD RX 7600. Here are my current specs: I'm running an Intel i5-8400 CPU, an ASUS B360M-A motherboard (which supports PCIe 3.0 and I've enabled Re-Size BAR), and I have 16GB of DDR4 RAM (currently single channel but looking to upgrade to 32GB dual channel soon). My concern is about the PCIe 3.0 limits and whether the bus speeds (x8 vs x16) and potential driver overhead on my older CPU will affect performance. Which GPU would be the best long-term choice for 1080p gaming? Thanks for your help!

Honestly, the PCIe speed isn’t a major concern for those specific cards. You'll probably hit a CPU bottleneck before PCIe becomes an issue. Any of those options should work fine for your setup.

Definitely opt for the B580. The RTX 5050 isn’t a great option, you’d be better off with a different card. Trust me on this one!

I've got a mini PC with an i5 8500 and found that the RX 580 8GB works perfectly for 1080p gaming. The RX 7600 is a beast, but make sure your CPU can keep up!

I wouldn't go for the Intel Arc unless your motherboard is fully compatible with Resizable BAR support. It could cause issues otherwise.

If you can find a used RTX 3070 within your budget, that would be a solid choice. If not, then go with the Arc B580.
