I'm looking to upgrade an older Dell Inspiron desktop to give my son (who's 9 years old) a dedicated gaming computer. The specs include a 16GB DDR3 RAM, Intel Core 2 Quad processor, and a 400W power supply, and it's running on Windows 7. Most of his gaming is on Roblox and Minecraft, where he often uses mods that enhance the graphics. What kind of graphics card can I install in this system that would work well for those games without needing too much power?

You'd want to look for a GPU that doesn't need a PCIe power connector since that power supply is on the weaker side. A GTX 1050 Ti would be a solid choice, or even a GTX 1650 if you're up for it. These cards should handle Roblox and Minecraft pretty decently!
I get where you're coming from with the setup, but just a heads up – Windows 7 isn't secure anymore since it doesn’t get updates. Are you comfortable with him using an outdated OS? Just something to consider!
I understand your concern. The PC was originally my mother's, so I figured it would be fine for basic games without sensitive info.
Honestly, with that dated power supply, you should stick to cards that don’t require extra power connectors. Look into the GTX 1050 or maybe an older RX 550. They should run well without overloading your system.
Yeah, I agree! A 1650 would be a better option for future-proofing, but make sure it fits your PSU.
