Hey everyone! I have an old Lenovo Ideapad G485 with just 2GB of RAM, and I've decided to ditch Windows since it's too slow. I'm looking for recommendations on Linux distros that would work better for this setup. I've tried Mint and Zorin, but they felt a bit laggy. I was considering Arch, but the person using this laptop isn't very tech-savvy and would prefer something more user-friendly. Also, I've experienced some keyboard issues with Mint and Zorin—specifically, the number keys from 1-4 and 7-0 stopped working while they still function fine on Windows. I've attempted various fixes related to drivers and xorg startup, but nothing has worked. Has anyone encountered similar problems?

You might want to give Debian a try; it's quite reliable and lightweight. Plus, it's user-friendly for newcomers!
Honestly, with just 2GB of RAM, even lightweight distros might struggle a bit, especially if you're just browsing the web. I'd recommend Bodhi Linux for a lighter option, but keep in mind that RAM upgrade could make a huge difference.
That makes sense! I’m helping a friend out, and they should really consider adding more RAM if they'll be using a browser and office software. But yeah, those specs really are pushing it.
