Hey everyone! I recently got a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Generation 1 Yoga with an i7 processor and 16GB of DDR3 RAM. I'm currently running KDE Fedora 43, but I'm curious if there's a distro that might support my device better. I've been having issues with the fingerprint scanner and can't adjust the brightness at all on Fedora. I would love it if the fingerprint scanner could work, but it's not a dealbreaker. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help!

If you're looking for more options, there’s a community on another platform called Find Me A Linux Distro where you can get tailored recommendations based on your hardware and preferences!
Honestly, I think you're pretty well off with Fedora. It generally offers good hardware support without losing too much reliability. Switching may not be necessary, and you might find yourself returning to Fedora after testing other distros. Fingerprint support can be a bit hit or miss, though, so don't get your hopes too high for that. As for the brightness issue, you might want to check out ddcutil to manage screen brightness better.
Have you tried MX Linux? It's user-friendly and has great documentation that can be really helpful for new users. You can even try it live through the .iso file without needing to install it first! Another option to explore different distros without installation is Ventoy; it lets you boot various distros straight from a USB.
