Best Monitor Upgrade Options for Gaming: 27″ or 32″?

Hey everyone! I just had my birthday and now I have about $300 to invest in some upgrades, aiming to stretch that to $450. I'm looking to replace my current monitor, which is a 21:9 1440p 60Hz ultrawide. I'm considering switching to a 16:9 display—either a 27" or 32" 1440p monitor, ideally with QD OLED or regular OLED at higher refresh rates (240Hz+). Currently, my setup usually only runs games at around 120fps.

The ultrawide monitor I have now seems to consume more VRAM and many games don't utilize that extra screen space properly, often resulting in a distorted view or cut-off visuals. Additionally, the display has poor black level performance, which makes gaming less enjoyable. Streaming is also tricky since platforms like Twitch only accept 16:9 ratios; I've had issues with black bars appearing on my stream or my screen depending on game settings.

With my current build featuring a GeForce Gigabyte RTX4060, an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-core processor, and 32GB of DDR4 RAM, I know I'll probably need to upgrade my CPU and GPU eventually, but I feel like starting with a new monitor should be my priority right now. What do you all think?

If you're leaning toward a new monitor, I'd suggest the 27" 1440p OLED option. It really hits that sweet spot for visual clarity, and you'll find you don’t need to max out graphics settings to get a crisp image. Plus, it’ll be a massive upgrade over what you have now!

I’ve heard that going with a 32" 1440p monitor might give you a similar experience to a 27" 1080p due to pixel density, so I’d recommend sticking with the 27" for a better image quality. The monitor upgrade seems like it would be the most beneficial for your gaming and streaming setup!
