I'm new to building PCs and I'm looking for some recommendations on a good motherboard and CPU combination for an RTX 4060 build. My budget is around $600, and I already have the RTX 4060 graphics card and the case, so I just need the motherboard and CPU.

Honestly, anything modern that's not from the very bottom of the line should work just fine with the RTX 4060. CPUs from the past five to six years will offer you decent performance. Just make sure your motherboard has the right socket for the CPU you choose.

If you're focused on cost, a basic A620 motherboard is an option, though it mainly supports 65W CPUs. Pair it up with a Ryzen 5 7500 or 7600, and you should be good to go! If you can spend a bit more, considering a board that handles 120W CPUs would give you better flexibility for future upgrades. So it really boils down to how much you want to invest now versus later!

For your build, you should consider whether you want an AM4 or AM5 motherboard. It depends a bit on your budget and needs. You can get a solid AM4 setup, which is typically more cost-effective. Just make sure it's compatible with your RTX 4060. If you're leaning towards a newer build, going for an AM5 with a Ryzen 5 7500 or 7600 could be a great choice. Just be mindful of what power the CPU will need; some lower-end boards might only handle CPUs up to 65W.
