I'm excited to build a PC with an RTX 5080 graphics card and a Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, but I'm not too familiar with motherboards. What are some good recommendations? Any specs I should consider?

One tip: Avoid any boards with the Intel i226-v onboard LAN, as they’ve had some persistent issues. Opt for ones with Realtek LAN instead — it’ll save you some trouble later on. Plus, I’ve got an Asus B650E-F, and I used a PCIe x1 Realtek card to avoid that hassle.

If you're looking for a motherboard, any B850 board should serve you well, especially as long as it's not from AsRock. They have a decent reputation, so you should be good to go!

I just built my rig with the MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk MAX WiFi and I'm thrilled with it. Running a 4080 and the 9800X3D combo! Super happy with the performance and features!

That motherboard sounds awesome! Thanks for sharing your experience. I might just add it to my list of options!

The MSI B850 Gaming Plus Wifi used to be my top pick, especially when it was around $159. Just make sure you avoid the newer version called the Gaming Plus Wifi6E, as it has downgraded specs. If you can find it for about $179, it's still a solid choice, or check out the MSI PRO B850-P WIFI if you want something with a less gamer-centric look. Another good option currently is the Gigabyte B850 GAMING X WIFI6E. It's priced at about $179 and has good specs as well.
