Best Quiet Cooling Solutions for My New Server Build

I'm planning to build a server featuring a 7800X3D processor to run 24/7 in my bedroom, where noise is a big concern since I need to sleep in the same room. I'm not using a GPU, so I'm primarily looking for an efficient CPU cooler that will keep it cool and quiet, along with potentially a low-noise front fan. Any recommendations?

For a silent setup with the 7800X3D, I'd recommend the Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE. It’s a great choice since it’s designed to be quiet, barely spinning up under normal loads. To go along with it, consider the be quiet! Pure Wings 3 for your case fans. You can adjust the fan curve in BIOS to minimize noise unless the temperature really spikes. Without a GPU, your system should stay nice and cool across the board.

Just a heads up, building your first server can be tricky! While the 7800X3D is powerful, think about its energy use. Depending on what you’ll actually be doing with it, a different CPU might give you better value, especially if you don’t need top-tier single-core performance. So, what do you plan to use this server for?

It sounds like a perfect case for prioritizing quiet operation, and luckily, the 7800X3D is relatively easy to cool. For your CPU cooler, the Noctua NH-D15 G2 would be fantastic if you can swing the price; it's known for being super quiet even under load, plus will keep your CPU cool without making much noise. If you're on a tighter budget, the Noctua NH-U12A is another solid pick. For fans, a Noctua NF-A12x25 will give you great airflow with minimal sound. Set your fan curves in BIOS to run quietly until it gets hot, and you'll barely notice the server running!
