I'm currently putting together a build with a 9800X3D processor and I've been doing a lot of research on RAM. I'm considering a 2x48GB DDR5 6000MT kit because I read it's better to use just two channels for optimal performance. However, I'm not entirely sure if I really need 96GB of RAM. I'm new to this whole thing and would love any insight or advice on whether this amount is necessary or if I should go for something smaller. Any recommendations or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Before making the purchase, check your motherboard's specifications to confirm how much memory it can handle. Just so you know, if it supports 256GB, then you're in good shape with that 96GB kit!
You'll definitely want to verify whether you actually need all that 96GB. For most gaming scenarios, 32GB is already more than enough, and some people find 16GB to be sufficient. If you're doing heavy multitasking or running demanding applications, then 96GB could be beneficial. But if the only thing you're doing is gaming, consider whether those extra 64GB would really be worth the investment.
That's a good point! I'm definitely leaning towards future-proofing my setup. I guess it's a balance between performance today and potential needs down the road.
Thanks for that tip! My motherboard can indeed support up to 256GB, so I think I'm safe going with the 96GB after all.
