Best Ryzen 7 Model for Gaming and Productivity?

I'm thinking of selling my Intel i7 12th Gen system because I've been having persistent issues with it. I haven't had much time to figure them out, so I'm considering upgrading to a Ryzen 7 8000 series processor but I'm not sure whether to choose the G, X3D, or X variant. My usual tasks include gaming (mainly Valorant and Marvel), running VMware for virtualization labs, and using Adobe software for video and photo editing. I'm also weighing whether to keep my current RTX 3070 GPU or switch to an AMD graphics card to match better with the Ryzen platform, but I already have a quality 1000W Seasonic PSU that should handle any upgrades just fine.

Honestly, the 8000 series isn't great for gaming. I'd recommend looking at the 7000 or 9000 series instead. They're just better overall for performance.

Switching from a 12700K to a 7700X or 9700X might not be a substantial upgrade, especially for video editing since you'd lose the quicksync feature. I suggest troubleshooting your current Intel setup first; it's likely still a solid CPU.

Is there any alternative to AMD that has the quicksync feature?

I would skip the 8000 series and the G models since you're using a dedicated GPU. The Ryzen 7 7700X or 9700X would serve you well for gaming and productivity. If your focus is more on productivity, go for the higher core count chip; for gaming, the X3D is the way to go. Also, there's no significant advantage in pairing an AMD CPU with an AMD GPU, so consider your options there for GPU upgrades.
