Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice on upgrading my current setup. Right now, I have an Intel i5 9400F paired with a 3070Ti, and I'm pretty disillusioned with my Intel-focused friends' opinions. I mainly use my PC for gaming (especially AAA titles), watching movies, and video editing. I'm not very familiar with the Ryzen lineup, so I need a solid recommendation to start with. What Ryzen CPU would be the best fit for my 3070Ti? Any additional recommendations for a motherboard or case would be greatly appreciated, too!

If you're on a budget, the Ryzen 7700 non-X variant could also be a solid option to consider!
I've been really satisfied with the AM5 setup—made the switch from a 9900K to a 7800X3D a while back, and it's been smooth sailing. What resolution are you planning to game at? Also, what are your go-to games?
If you're looking at lower-end AM5 chips, the 7500F, 7600(X), and 9700X are solid picks that won't bottleneck your GPU. You can go for a higher-end 7800X3D or 9800X3D if you want more power. I've had great results after upgrading from an 8700K to the 7800X3D—great performance and efficient power usage. If you plan on overclocking the 9800X3D, think about getting a water cooler; otherwise, air cooling works fine.
Switching from an i5 9400F opens up a lot of good Ryzen options! The AM5 platform is a solid investment for the long term. The 7600X is a great entry-level choice, and if you're willing to splurge, you can go all out with the 7800X3D or the 9800X3D. If you're on a tighter budget, you might find some good used AM4 parts on sites like eBay. I often grab B450 boards and Ryzen 5 5600 setups for around $170—just something to consider based on your budget.
Appreciate this. I'm learning a lot about AMD as a former Intel fan boy haha thanks
You should definitely consider getting an AM5 motherboard since they're the latest from AMD and will keep you set for future upgrades. The Ryzen 7 7800X3D offers an awesome boost with its added L3 cache, so it performs really well, especially for gaming and video editing. If you want something a bit cheaper, the 7600X is still a fantastic choice, and the 7500F is also a great option. Just be cautious with budget motherboards, especially ones from ASRock, as there have been stability issues reported with faster RAM.
Normally play at 1440p unless it's an older game then I run it 4k. Lately, I'm diving into some poorly optimized games, so I'm not sure how much noticeable improvement I'll see, but for other titles, I hope it'll justify the upgrade! Playing stuff like Last of Us 2 and Oblivion Remastered.
