Best TVs for Gaming in Dark Scenes

I'm on the hunt for a good TV that performs well in dark areas for gaming. Recently, I tried playing Resident Evil 8, and the first part set in the dark house left me feeling completely blind. Unfortunately, I can't get a refund for the TV I bought, which is frustrating. I used to have a 43-inch LG UT81006LA, and it was fantastic for seeing in dark scenes. It was an LED IPS 4K TV with direct backlight, but I can't seem to find a new one, even though it was released in 2024. I've also tried cranking up the brightness on the new TV, but it just makes everything look hazy instead of clearer. Any recommendations?

Consider getting a TV with a low response time if you're gaming. Also, adjusting the gamma level might help. I know you can disable HDR on some TVs, allowing you to increase gamma by a few notches, which really enhances dark scenes.

One option is to look into settings on your console. There’s often a sliding bar for contrast in the system settings. It might help make dark areas in the game more visible. Also, your TV should have features to boost contrast or brightness—check those too!

I did try adjusting the in-game settings in Resident Evil 8, but it didn't really fix the issue. I messed with the TV settings as well, but nothing seemed to help much.

Have you checked your TV settings? They can be pretty confusing these days, but lowering the contrast and turning off automatic settings might help. Give it a shot!
