Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my PC and could really use some advice. Here are my current specs:
* Intel i5 6600k (overclocked to 4.1GHz, with a H110 Extreme cooler)
* RX 580 8GB GPU
* 32GB DDR4 RAM (2x16GB Corsair 3600MHz)
* 870 EVO 1TB SSD
I also use a MacBook M3 Pro for web development, and transitioning back to my PC has made me realize how sluggish it feels. I'm running Windows 10 and have already tried a hard reset and some overclocking, but it's still not performing well. I want to spend around $500 to $700 on upgrades to enhance performance for dual-booting Windows 10 and Hackintosh for web and mobile app development, plus some light gaming.
I'm not into super demanding games, so I don't think a new GPU is necessary right now, and I'm not ready to dive into DDR5 RAM. I was considering the following upgrades: a new Intel i7 14700k processor and a Gigabyte B760M motherboard. Any other suggestions or thoughts on this? I'm not too up-to-date with PC hardware anymore, so I appreciate any help!

Getting a new CPU and motherboard is definitely the right direction! The i7 14700k sounds good, especially since your focus is on productivity. Just look out for deals since you don't need top-notch performance right now. Also, keeping your existing RAM is a smart choice.
I'm not sure if $500-$700 will cover everything you need. While your RAM is decent, you might require a new CPU, motherboard, and possibly a cooler since your current one is pretty old. If you aim for an AM5 or Intel setup with DDR5, remember the RAM alone could eat up your whole budget!

I'm actually open to spending closer to $1000 if needed. My PSU is a CoolerMaster MasterWatt 650, but I did buy the cooler back in 2016. I really want to avoid another thread about RAM prices, but I guess that's just part of it! At least my case is still usable!
