Best Upgrades for My Gaming PC on a Budget?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my gaming rig and would love your thoughts. I've been gaming for about 25 years, but I'm not the most tech-savvy. Here's my current setup:

- **Motherboard:** ASUS TUF GAMING B550 PLUS WIFI II
- **PSU:** Corsair RM850e 80PLUS Gold
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
- **GPU:** RTX 3080
- **RAM:** 2 x 8 GB DDR4
- **Storage:** 4 x 2 TB SSD NVMe
- **Monitors:** One 27" 4K 60Hz and one 27" 1080p 60Hz.

I mainly game (95% of the time) and I'm trying to play more intensive or poorly optimized games like Escape from Tarkov and Star Citizen at a stable 4K 60 FPS, which has been a bit of a struggle for me.

### Budget: €400 - €700

### Thoughts on Priorities:
1. **Monitor:** Thinking about downgrading to a 1440p monitor. Should I go for a 32" or 27"? I sit about 60 cm away from the screen and I'd like that cinematic feel. Is OLED worth it? Curved or flat?
2. **CPU:** My motherboard supports the Ryzen 9 5950X, which claims to offer a huge performance jump for €270.
3. **RAM:** Considering bumping up to 32 GB (2 x 16 GB). Current prices seem decent for around €110-120 for double capacity.
4. **GPU:** I'm contemplating options for an upgrade. My RTX 3080 could sell for about €400. The RTX 4080 offers 50% more performance at €750, while the RTX 5070 is €550 with 43% more performance. There's also the RTX 5080, but that's €1000 for a big jump in performance.

What do you guys think about this situation? Any advice would be appreciated!

Upgrading to the Ryzen 9 5950X might not be worth it since most games won’t fully use that many cores compared to your 5600X. If you want a noticeable upgrade, consider the Ryzen 7 5700X3D instead. Also, grabbing an extra 16 GB of RAM would really help your performance, especially in more demanding titles.

For the GPU, either the RTX 4080 is a solid choice, or you might want to check out the AMD 7900 XT, which gives you more VRAM for less cash!

Interesting point about the CPU! I didn't realize the 5700X3D could be a better choice. Thanks for suggesting the AMD card, I’ll look into that!

I definitely appreciate the RAM advice! I’m leaning toward getting more to future-proof my setup.

Before making any big upgrades, have you checked your current monitor's refresh rate? If it's over 60 Hz, switching to 1440p might really improve your FPS, especially in games that can be played at that resolution. Plus, with your budget, you could test the waters without a huge risk.

That’s a great idea! My primary monitor is 60Hz, but I’ll have to confirm the exact specs of my second one.
