Best Upgrades for My RTX 3080 Setup?

Hey everyone! I currently have a setup with an RTX 3080 and it's starting to show some performance issues, especially with stuttering. My CPU is a Ryzen 5800X, I have 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and I'm using an EVGA 850W PSU. I'm considering getting a new motherboard, RAM, and possibly a new CPU to fix this. I think my case, GPU, PSU, and storage are fine, but I'm looking for advice on the best combinations to enhance my performance. Could you all suggest some setups for my video card that balance cost with performance? I'd love to hear what you think from best to good without being too overpriced!

Consider reinstalling Windows or even downclocking your RAM to 3600 to keep the infinity fabric in sync. Sometimes software issues can really impact performance!

I upgraded from a 5900X to a 9800X3D and saw fantastic FPS improvements at 1440p. If you're focused on competitive gaming, definitely consider the 9800X3D. The 7800X3D is a cheaper alternative but still offers decent performance. Also think about upgrading your monitor to a higher refresh rate, if you haven't already!

Gotcha! Any suggestions for a good motherboard to pair with the 9800X3D?

For the motherboard, look at ones compatible with AM5 like the ASUS ROG Strix or MSI MPG series—they offer great features and stability.

I’d recommend looking at the AM5 platform with a Ryzen 9800X3D or 7800X3D for solid performance. But before jumping to upgrades, it's a good idea to troubleshoot your current setup. You might find that optimizing what you already have could solve the stuttering issue.

What games are you playing, and at what resolution? I had some stuttering at 1440p because of running out of VRAM on my 10GB card. Also, ensure your RAM sticks are properly installed and that XMP/DOCP is set up correctly. Using the right slots really makes a difference!

That’s good! Make sure XMP is activated, and you might also want to check for any background processes that could be hogging resources.

I'm playing Apex and running at 1080p in windowed mode with low settings. My RAM is definitely in the right slots per the manual.
