Hey everyone! I'm looking to build a website for an ARG (Alternate Reality Game) for my friend, but I have pretty much zero experience in web development. I'm hoping to find an easy way to create a site that allows for lots of customization and lets me add custom assets. Ideally, I would prefer free options, but I have a small budget of around $5 a month if necessary. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Creating a web game isn't exactly a walk in the park. If you're sticking to a text-based interface, there are still some complexities to consider, especially when it comes to costs. For a simple setup, free hosting for static pages could work well as long as you don’t need a backend.
Have you thought about using WordPress? It has tons of presets and could simplify your process a lot! Just be aware that using WordPress for a fully customized game site can get pretty complicated.
Really? People actually use WordPress for games? That sounds interesting, but I would imagine it’s not that straightforward to set up.
You can get a domain for around $12 if you go with a .com, but there are cheaper alternatives. You might want to look into free options like GitHub for hosting, which works well for static sites. Just keep in mind that you might need to write some code or create everything manually. Are you comfortable with coding, or were you hoping for tools that don’t require coding?
