I'm trying to connect my Xbox to the internet via a wired setup, but my router is located on the first floor and my Xbox is upstairs in my room. My parents prefer not to have any visible cables running down the stairs, so I'm looking for alternative ways to get a wired connection. I've heard that it's possible to use a landline wall port and convert it to Ethernet, but I'm not very knowledgeable about this. Fortunately, I do have a landline port in my room, so if conversion is feasible, it could be a good solution. Any advice on how to best set this up? Thanks!

The landline port won't work for a wired connection as it typically uses CAT 3 cables, which aren't great for modern internet needs. Here are some alternatives:
1. **Powerline Adapters**: These allow you to use your electrical wiring to transmit internet signals. You can find info on how they work from brands like TP-Link.
2. **MoCA Adapters**: If you have coaxial cables for TV, these work like powerline but use the existing coax lines instead.
3. **Running Ethernet through the walls**: If you're willing to do some minor drilling, you could run a cable through a small hole from one floor to another or hide it along the baseboards.
4. **Mesh Wi-Fi System**: If wired is out of reach, consider adding mesh Wi-Fi access points to improve your wireless signal throughout the house.

How much of an improvement should I expect with Powerline? I currently get about 110mbps on Wi-Fi, but I do face some lag spikes while gaming.
