I recently got two new M.2 SSDs: a WD Black SN850X 2TB with a super fast speed of 7300MB/s, and a Crucial E100 480GB with a speed of 4700MB/s. I'm not really sure how much these speeds matter in real-world use, and I'm confused about which M.2 slots to use for each drive or where to install my operating system. Initially, I planned to put the OS on the smaller SSD, but since it's less expensive and slower, I'm reconsidering that choice. I'm mainly going to use my PC for gaming and I want to keep my OS and games stored separately because I've heard there are benefits to this separation. I'm new to all of this and really trying to learn more about it. Any advice would be appreciated!

You should definitely install everything on the WD Black SN850X and just return the Crucial SSD. If you really want to keep your OS separate from other data, consider just creating a partition on the main drive instead.

Why do you think I should return the Crucial SSD? I might end up needing more storage as I’ll probably fill up the 2.5TB over time. Can't I just keep it as extra and upgrade my storage next time?
