I've been stuck trying to flash the BIOS on my MSI B550M motherboard for hours now, and I really need to update it to get my Ryzen 5600X working. I've done all the necessary formatting and renaming on my USB stick, but the red light keeps flashing continuously, and I'm not seeing any progress. I even turned off my PC at one point (I know, terrible idea) and the same issue persists. Is it time to just give up and buy a new motherboard, or should I leave it plugged in for even longer? I've successfully flashed this exact motherboard before, but I had to reset the BIOS to factory settings and now I'm feeling a bit desperate.

Did you follow the flashing instructions from MSI? It’s important to stick to their guidelines to avoid issues. Check out this video guide for a step-by-step process.
If all your components are pretty new, the motherboard should ideally already support your CPU. It's possible that your board is old stock. This has happened to me before, but usually, a BIOS update is needed for certain CPUs. Normally, it should work fine, but it seems like yours might need that update before it'll boot up.
You might want to give it a bit more time. Sometimes BIOS updates can take longer than expected. If not, try a different USB drive or check if your motherboard has any specific quirks with flashing.
I hope that works! I guess I'll let it run longer before considering a new motherboard.
Yeah, I followed the MSI website instructions: formatted to FAT32, renamed the file to msi.rom, plugged it into the BIOS flash USB port, and pressed the flash button.
