I'm encountering an issue with Server 2025 virtual machines on Hyper-V. We have two customers experiencing the same problem where their VMs fail to boot after delivering updates and a reboot. The first customer is on a Server 2016 host, while the second is using Server 2025. Both VMs display a black screen during the boot process. I've attached a link to an image for reference: [view image](https://imgur.com/a/rCvHFHf). After crashing the VMs a few times, we can access recovery mode, and all data on the VHDs seems secure.
I suspect this might be a bug since both instances are identical across different physical hosts. I did some restoration and updates on one machine: both "KB5062553" and "KB5056579" were applied, but it was the first update that triggered the black screen issue again. Has anyone else dealt with this?

We’re also experiencing the black screen issue on a few Windows 11 24H2 systems. It’s been puzzling, as we can’t pinpoint exactly what triggers it. Definitely sounds like a pattern here.
I ran into the same problem in my homelab with Hyper-V VMs after those updates. All of my hosts and guests are running Windows 11 IoT LTSC, and I'm using GPU passthrough. I tried to restore to a previous system restore point, but it broke Windows, so now I have to reinstall it. Pretty frustrating! But it seems this doesn’t hit every server since I manage around 40 and it’s only affecting a couple.
Yeah, it’s strange that it only affected some machines. This seems linked to the 24H2 build of Windows 11 that's underlying Server 2025. I also noticed some disk mapping issues with DISKPART during recovery.
